I’m back or at least I hope this newsletter is back now. Took a time off, no specific reason. Sorry to those who like to read. I promise to be more frequent again from today! Have some stuff to come over the next weeks and months!
little bit of a mini rant or hot take ore whatever to start with: I reflected on that whole “reposting” thing and by now it pretty much annoys me how some pages just cheaply copy pics and then “forget” the correct tags, photographers and authors. I know that RH lives party because I started curating aka reposting good, special and aesthetic content but I think it’s completely wrong to copy pics, don’t tag authors and then put your own logo and watermark on it. At the same time it’s sad that this kinda behavior brings thousands of likes, followers and even appreciation from “voices” of the industry. I think it is cool to offer a platform for content but just ripping of the creatives isn’t cool at all. Btw I think it’s a completely different thing when we’re talking about shop or brand content. STILL: TAG THE CREATOR/OWNER
Therefore i’m trying to do something new and over the last couple of weeks, we had the first “Seen through the lens of” postings. I had the chance to send Romain Wyndaele to Boston earlier this year, Rene aka Master Goodvibe shared some Boston fun and Clara brought London Marathon some more attention with her POV shots during and around the race. I hope, this kind of collaboration with OG content will have a positive impact on the content we see and share. I mean I don’t wanna only do co-author posts in the future but I think it’s a cool way for “both sides” to profit from good content! Funnily, some of that content ended up being reposted without the correct tags already.
As always: if you wanna share an opinion about that, even if controversial, please do. I don’t think I am the only one that’s right and I always like a discussion and different views.
Newsflash:
Lydia aka Comerunwithme with a stunning 650km through Portugal last week
A visit at Hoka’s Annecy lab is always worth it!
Oumu has a good point about run clubs, capitalism and community
Same for Raz as some pages were talking about “running culture peaking” around London Marathon with a weird hyper-capitalist argumentation. He asks “What is running culture?” and I like that.
I wasn’t having London foam this year as I was running somewhere myself but it looked hot af again!
The Mountain to Coast R1 *Outside* is hopefully dropping soon and looks pretty fresh!
Sunday’s Wings For Life world run raised €8.6M raised for spinal cord injury research! Crazy work!
Francesco Puppi won Canyons 100 with a stunning new course record and then passed his Western States golden ticket as “I answered that as much as I wanted to say yes, I felt that the right thing to do was to say no, and here are the reasons for it.” Francesco is not only an outstanding athlete but a great guy. This will be his biggest year so far and that’s wonderful.
Ok, ok. Now here’s some cool running stuff I recently stumbled upon:
MIUT 60 with Hoka
You might have seen some of my content but I had the chance to run the MIUT 60 on Madeira with Hoka and really enjoyed the 58 very hilly kilometers through the crazy micro climates, muddy mountains and jungles of Madeira. It was awesome and beautiful and exhausting in the best way possible. Would 11/10 do it again. Click the posts, show some live, if you haven’t so far. Thx HOKA for the experience! Will talk about the Mafate X very soon (but I ran the Tecton X3, one of the best trail shoes ever). By the way i’m running 50k in 2 weeks at the Grande Alsace in France. Anybody there?
Adidas Road to Records
Jeez, I love those shots by Ruben Elstner. Road to Records looked pretty cool this year, although i’ve not heard too much about records. Still I think Adidas are having a great time in ‘25 with the new Adizero Pro and the Evo SL - I love putting more miles in my pair, only because I already have a fresh pair of Evo’s in the closet…
GNUHR Spring Drop 2025
I’m not hiding my excitement for Portland-based brand Gnuhr at all and the (already sold out?) drop last week was very very hot again. The Warp Short looks completely logical to me and I can’t wait to finally have more European retailers carry the brand. But also the jacket made from that ultralight Micro Cordura is a heavy hitter.
Pleasures x The Loop x On Cloudmonster
Haven’t talked too much about this collab but I think it’s “the next step” of running collabs as we have a running brand, a lifestyle brand AND a running retailer collaborate on the On Cloudmonster and an accompanying capsule. LA meets Austin meets Zurich. Props especially to The Loop as it’s already one of the leading running stores around!
New Balance Supercomp Elite V5
What a beast, right? New Balance teased the upcoming (August, I think) v5 of their Elite super shoe around London Marathon and Clara, whom I was able to send to run the 42k around town, was allowed to test the prototype color way. Sadly I think this specific color way will stay prototype again but the first releasing color way already looks fire as well!
Salomon Gravel Running
I’m not fully convinced yet, so don’t hate on this one, haha. I just really like the content here and overall the shoes look pretty decent. What i’m not convinced of it the “new” category of so-called Gravel Running shoes. It’s a bit of a trail shoe with a bit more cushion and an outsole with less heavy outsoles? Sorry if mistaken. O.o Salomon’s approach is nice and the first set of content is pretty cool as well!
Gravel Running made me giggle a little 😄
Gravel? I like the content and that this stupid "door-to-trail" or "all terrain" category in shoes will hopefully be replaced by this. With gravel i know where i can and where i shouldnt use it, so i'm fine with it.
