Ok, how amazing have those Olymopic Games been? It was a crazy spectacle, i’m almost speechless. Seen so much crazy performances and fights, such good races, be it the marathon, 1500m or Ingebrigtsen’s “revenge” on the 5000. But tbf i think the Olympics is not just for the popular but definitely for the more “niche” sports - not often i find myself watching horseriding or shooting, not gonna lie.
But tbh, i also saw so much stuff going on off the track and outside of the stadiums. Maybe you missed it but look up the Oakley bunker, the Maurten Clubhouse, the Distance Athletics souvenir shop, the Everybody’s Local activation by New Balance, On’s Running Lab and many more.
Buuut, we’ve seen some more stuff last week. Hoka x Satisfy released their latest collab and - BOOOOM - it’s a great shoe. Also i had a relaxing vacation topped off with a few days in Copenhagen and even managed to do some social running during CPHFW with Norda, Vibram and Norse Projects. Good times.
Now 6 days till MCC in Chamonix and just earlier today i registered for the 50K of the Grad Trail d’Alsace in May next year. We’re keeping up the pace. But: i think i broke my little toe on the right foot last week and didn’t have a chance to run since that day. Will definitely have to check spontaneously next week if running feels like an option. Otherwise a short vacation in Chamonix it is.
By the way sorry for the delay (again). Moving into the new flat is a nightmare, haha. But i’m looking forward to it and there will be less busy times in the near future, i hope.
Here’s what caught my eye during the last days and weeks:
1 Social Running in Copenhagen
Social running in cities you don’t know is a thing. And tbf i don’t mean those modern “social runs are the new tinder” things because that’s everything but not good nor sustainable for “the community” or running long term. (IMHO)
But i like connecting with cities and (possibly) like-minded individuals through running. In Copenhagen, i was able to run with Prolog Morgenlob and few days later with Norse Store and i enjoyed both. If you run early, you see the city in a complete different setting and i honestly love that. Also both running routes in CPH were more than scenic.
2 Satisfy x Hoka
Came home to this one. Amazing pair, as i’m a big fan of the Mafate 4 sole unit and really curious about the reduced upper. Due to my toe condition i didn’t run in them so far but i definitely will. The brown pair just came in as well and damn, can’t decide on which one is better!
3 New Balance Everybody’s Local
“Everybody’s Local” is my favorite New Balance campaign from the last years and i’m glad they’re continuing it. Paris looked like a dream, let’s see what the next months will bring!
4 Maurten x Distance
We all know Paris is the collaborative wonderland (not only) this year and Distance are the magicians. Together with Maurten, they opened their Clubhouse for a while during the Olympics, had a souvenir shop, running activations and several talks & panels. Good stuff, connecting the people and brands.
5 Rytme - for Women
Discovered Rytme “by accident” when i was walking through Copenhagen and it definitely caught my eye. It’s a new brand - no, not “just” another one. It’s not just the next *Made in XX* basic fabrics community brand or whatever, Rytme has a clear focus and is based in the industry for quite a while. Founder Christel Thue Høgsted has made more than first steps with The North Face and Pas Normal and now is stepping it up with Rytme. The brand ist built on the foundation of women’s movement with a clear pov: it’s technical apparel focussed on and made for women. A good step imo!
6 Salomon Summer 2024
This campaign looks beautiful. Salomon’s Summer 2024 is a pure vibe and i don’t have to loose too many words about it. Pics were taken by California-based photographer Courtney White. I really dig the mood.
7 The North Face IKB collection
The North Face IKB collection, inspired by the archive of designer & artist Yves Klein. Every piece comes in the famous IKB / International Klein Blue color and is made especially for the needs of UTMB runners. The content's looking mystical and the collection is available via The North Face already.
8 Tiempos Summer 2024 drop
I really like Tiempos and their latGood colors, good cuts, good prints and a good choice of products. Definitely one of the “modern” indie brands that i really like.
