Hey fam,
have to keep it rather short this week as too much’s going on right now. Good stuff but that means time for Substack (i’d love to spend more time in here) is quite limited. I got a short hot take and two recommendations. Wanna hear the hot take? Backyard Ultras with a main focus on content and 60% “creator runners” are kinda annoying, even with crazy distances run. I (personally) don’t need the topless Hyrox gym bros in trail running right now, out for the next challenge reel after running another marathon in a pair of denim.
Over to the good stuff: Chicago Marathon is happening this weekend and Marathonweekend has all the good events to visit. Mapped & filtered. Then it’s Francesco Puppi again. He won CCC in August and just put out another episode of his Youtube format.
1 Hoka x Haven
Collab game on point. Hoka & Haven collaborate on one of my favorite “lifestyle” silhouettes right now, the Evo Stinson OG. Nothing beats the comfort of these after running MCC with a broken toe, i am telling you. The colorway speaks Haven very much and the content couldn’t be more atmospheric. Hope to add a pair to my autumn rotation! Release on October 17th.
2 Raide Trailtech
I love Raide and their technical approach to outdoor & trailrunning gear. They’re out there, giving their product purpose, not a story, solving real problems of outdoor people. It’s engineering and not marketing and i couldn’t rate a brand more, i guess. Their 2L belt is the absolute all-time favorite in my trail rotation. That’s why i am very excited for the “smaller” belt - maybe even for everyday? - and the shorts. Best thing? They have a European warehouse right now and you do not have to pay big shipping.
3 Houdini Lykan
Future of outdoor lies in knitted fleece garments as they’re just too light, breathable but windstopping and warming at the same time. Had the Lykan by Houdini in hand in Januars at PFW but i’m honestly happy it’s released now. Good stuff!
4 Satisfy x Oakley
Satisfy & Oakley team up for the 6th time already and it seems they don’t miss. Like the desert theme and again i guess i won’t be able to score the cap (nor the shades). Release this friday.
5 Amsterdam Marathon with Bambas & New Balance
Team, my boy Josh will be out in Amsterdam for Marathon Weekend next week - so if there’s some hidden gem event we should know of, hit us up. We’ll be around with Bambas and NB for the weekend. Their schedule is ace already!
