HIGHEST FIVE VOL 24
Welcome back… to me? Was on vacation for a week and didn’t manage to send out a newsletter last week - still i checked what’s going on in running on an almost daily base, so here we go! Zegama happened - what a muddy race day - with a win for Daniele Oemus, while Copenhagen Marathon just whitnessed summer temperatures and lots of race and off-race action and some visitors from Brussels and Paris. Looked pretty fine, guys!
I did a pretty cool trail run in Mallorca, testing the GEL-Trabuco 11 by Asics (find the reel here) - little self marketing at this point should be allowed.
Another “personal” thing: i cannot tag Instagram posts correctly in Substack anymore what is pretty disappointing as it was an easy way of just linking the posts in the newsletter, including the account that posted it etc. - hope Substack will fix this soon.
Thank you for your support as always and keep on running! Wanna support even more? Then subscribe here:
1 New Balance FreshFoam Trail More v3
This one’s been awaited for quite a while and i cannot wait to run my pair tomorrow. Be it the Grey Day version or the two colorways from New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio, New Balance lately had a knack for lifestyle-ish colorways on their runners. Actually that’s a good thing - don’t need bright neon on every running shoe. Footpatrol did a little countryside fieldtrip with the shoes last weekend - find the results here. (pic by Footpatrol)
2 ASICS GEL-TRABUCO 11 in Mallorca
Did a little vacation trail running with ASICS last week - actually it was my first run with an elevation of more than 1000m in a while, hahaha. Pretty adventurous but amazing business and maybe a new motivation for doing more hills and trail running in general as if definitely offers some Zen i don’t find in running through the city. Used the GEL-Trabuco for around 60k now and definitely like it. The outsole’s pretty rough and a good match for every ground, even if it gets slippery! Click here & show love1
3 Hometown Half (Marathon) with Irregular Practice
Mainz is the smaller city next to Frankfurt. But for me it’s the city i lived for around 10 (of my best) years, the city i started running, even the city i did my first race and half marathon. So i’m pretty happy we created a buzz with my crew Irregular Practice for the local Half Marathon - included limited running tees, a shake out run and cheering - with support of New Balance Running. Thanks for that! Check out more and make sure to follow!
Doesn’t always have to be a major!
4 Deru Interview with Christian Brecheis (Near Earth Socks)
The perfect running sock doesn’t ex… ? Well, Near Earth is pretty near, i guess. Munich’s Deru Store met with photographer and Near Earth founder Christian Brecheis to talk about the running socks his brand creates - not only about socks but about running in general, communities and what’s behind the pure run. Make sure to check out the interview in their blog and check out NEAR EARTH!
5 adidas Y3 Running / Adizero
adidas releases some of their running styles (Boston, Ultraboost Light, Takumi Sen) as part of Y3 now. Not sure if apparel follows but the black & white colorways are pretty clean. I’d run em. They’re giving me the adidas x Mastermind Japan vibes from back in the days (loved that ZX 500!). Out by now but tbf 350€ for the Takumi is above my price level. MORE!
6 Crocs x Satisfy Running
Please don’t hate but i’ve fallen for the hype and will definitely get a pair of these. Comfort is 11/10 and i’ve definitely seen weirder shoes on feet recently. Perfect before & after running shoes imo. Satisfy definitely surprisingly strong and decisive with their collabs! More here.
7 On Running Cloudmonster - new colorway
Always worth a note as the CloudMonster was my favorite in 2022 and still is one of the top picks of 2023. We got a new colorway here and it’s pretty solid for Spring! More here. (Pics via Overkillshop)
